Featuring locomotives dating from the 1850s through the 1920s, the Railroad Hall traces the history of travel on the rails. Scale models are used to show the development of passenger cars, locomotives, and freight cars.

Highlights include:

  • an 1836 8-wheel passenger coach
  • a diorama of New York's Third Avenue Elevated as it appeared in 1880
  • an 1888 Seattle cable car
  • an 1898 Washington, D.C., electric streetcar
  • a 1401 steam passenger locomotive
  • the Jupiter steam locomotive used to pull both passenger and freight trains
