In memory of writer, poet, and activist Maya Angelou (1928-1914), on view is a portrait of her painted by Ross Rossin and unveiled in a ceremony Angelou attended in April 2014. Angelou wrote a series of seven autobiographical novels that are an indelible record of resistance and achievement by African Americans, particularly African American women.
