The lap desk that Jefferson designed and on which he wrote the Declaration of Independence is included as well as a cipher wheel that he invented. One of Jefferson's valued possessions was a painted Indian buffalo robe on display which depicts 64 Indians during a battle. The hide was a gift from Lewis and Clark.
