See 3 cars in re-created settings along with other objects that explore how American families have used and enjoyed cars over the years. Included are a 1929 Oakland Sedan and 1928 Gilkie tent trailer on a summer car-camping trip, a 1955 Ford station wagon at a drive-in movie theater, and a 1972 Volkswagon on a shopping trip. A children's section includes a Soapbox Derby car; a Pinewood Derby car kit; a 1950s Fisher Body Guild competition model; a car built from plans by a 12-year-old in Minnesota in 1950, accompanied by a home movie made by his older brother; and Ken and Barbie's pink plastic car.

Memory books are available for visitors to record their memories of family car trips.
