On view is an original copy of the Declaration of Independence—one of 25 known to exist. It was printed July 5, 1776, in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, in the print shop of John Dunlap. The Declaration of Independence provided both the foundation and the guiding principles for the new nation and has inspired generations of Americans and people around the world.
