This permanent exhibition centers around a 3,000-gallon-glass tank containing a living coral reef ecosystem. Both an exhibit and a working research facility, it enables visitors to watch the behavior of hundreds of living sea plants and animals in a complex natural community, as well as to observe NMNH scientists conducting experiments.

Films, graphics, and written informational material complement the reef.
