In celebration of the 50th anniversary of the museum in 2014, this exhibition recognizes the museum's unique history and its contributions towards furthering meaningful dialogue between Africa and the African diaspora. It brings together some 100 African and African Diaspora works of art from two world-class collections: the Smithsonian National Museum of African Art and the Camille O. and William H. Cosby Jr. collections, the latter a major collection of African American art that has never been lent and only rarely and selectively published.
