A rich visual record of the late Qajar period (from approximately 1885 to approximately 1930) is offered in 24 photographs selected from the Freer collection. They are the work of a commercial photographer whose studio was located on Tehran's Avenue of Ambassadors. Evenly divided between vintage prints and modern prints made from original glass negatives, the photographs not only document decades of great change in Iran but also illustrate Sevruguin's high level of technical and aesthetic achievement.
