American Porcelain: New Expressions in an Ancient Art

November 7, 1980 – August 16, 1981

The 108 objects on view were selected from work submitted by craftsmen in 40 states. Included are figurative and abstract sculpture, place settings of dinnerware, and vessels designed as an art form. Stylistic versatility ranges from cowboy boots with western scenes to pieces that recall Japanese imari ware, and is equalled by technical virtuosity.
