Approximately 60 photographs, cartes de visite, daguerreotypes, and ambrotypes depict American families from the 19th century to the present. The images reflect continuity and change in family life over the past 150 years, with photos from various occasions—holidays, graduations, weddings, and family gatherings.

Items are complemented by 2 interactive computer stations with scanned images of present-day American families.
