Commemorate the 150th anniversary of the National Academy of Design—founded by professional artists who were committed to the promotion of contemporary American art and to the training of art students—in this exhibition featuring 180 works by 124 artists. An introductory section features drawings of casts and nudes; three chronological groupings of paintings and sculpture follow; and the exhibition concludes with memorabilia and a small group of portraits of the Academy founders.
