In this case, a selection of rare books from the 18th and 19th centuries, along with specimens, documents the peculiarities of early museum collecting practices and the origins of natural history museums. Also discussed is how these rare natural history books continued to play a vital role in scientific research.
This case is a collaboration between Smithsonian Institution Libraries and the Natural History Museum.
