To celebrate the Year of the Horse (Feb. 12, 2002-Jan. 31, 2003), this exhibition includes 19 Chinese horse paintings and calligraphy dating from the 11th to the 20th century. These rarely-seen works on silk and paper represent three categories: horses, man and the horse, and ethnic hunters. A translation of ryhme-prose on the Celestial Horse as well as a handscroll depicting more than seventy horses are also on view.
