Featured is a new NPG acquisition, Christian Schussele's painting, Washington Irving and His Literary Friends at Sunnyside--depicting Henry Wadsworth Longfellow, James Fenimore Cooper, Ralph Waldo Emerson, and other pre-civil war writers in Irving's study.
