The exhibition highlights the creative ways in which 6 contemporary artists combine the acts of writing with a range of media -- including calligraphy, transcriptions of archival materials, graphic designs, installation, and photography -- to produce dramatic and highly original artistic statements. The artists include Berni Searle, Fathi Hassan, Willem Boshoff, Ghada Amer, Berry Bickle, and Rachid Koraichi -- several of whom exhibited in the 2001 Venice Biennale.
