Some 88 paintings, sculptures, photographs, drawings, and mixed-media works examine how late 20th-century artists perceive beauty. Among some of the 36 artists included are works by Barney, Dumas, Gonzales-Torres, Picasso, Sherman, and Turrell. This exhibition is organized thematically rather than chronologically in order to suggest broad categories through which beauty can be recognized across generations, styles, and media. A 600-square-foot Media Arts Gallery situated mid-way through the exhibition shows four decades of film, video, and performance documentation on film.
