On view are 17 color, dye-transfer prints of the land, the people, and the architecture of the land-locked, war-torn Asian nation. The photographs were taken between 1974 and 1978 by the American photographer who visited Afghanistan as an artist, traveler, and amateur archaeologist as well. Powell, born in North Carolina in 1946, currently resides in Middleburg, Vermont. He has studied both painting and the Bible and has traveled through Asia extensively.
