Level 3 Floor Plan

This exhibition pairs two wide-screen 16 mm film installations by British artist Tacita Dean (b. 1965). Her latest work, Fernsehturm (Television Tower), provides a hypnotic panorama of Berlin at sunset as seen from a revolving restaurant on top of the radio tower in Alexanderplatz. The camera scans a city once brutally divided, now poised for a potentially central role in Europe's future. In Disappearance at Sea (1996), a revolving lighthouse beacon and setting sun convey the tragedy of an English sailor's fatal around-the-world voyage.
