To commemorate the centennial of the World's Columbian Exposition and the Columbian Quincentenary, the National Portrait Gallery and the National Museum of American Art jointly present 100 paintings and artworks originally exhibited in Chicago in 1893. Included are The Gross Clinic by Thomas Eakins and Ellen Terry as Lady MacBeth by John Singer Sargent as well as works by William Merritt Chase, Winslow Homer, and James McNeill Whistler.
