Smithsonian To Reopen National Air and Space Museum, National Postal Museum and Anacostia Community Museum in March

The Smithsonian will reopen its Anacostia Community Museum, National Postal Museum and the National Air and Space Museum on the National Mall. The Anacostia Community Museum will open Wednesday, March 9, and the National Postal Museum will open Friday, March 11. The National Air and Space Museum’s building on the National Mall will be open Friday, March 11, through Sunday, March 27; it will close March 28 for renovations until the fall.

These locations were temporarily closed due to staffing shortages from COVID-19.

The schedule for the three museums is as follows:

  • Anacostia Community Museum opens Wednesday, March 9
    Museum hours: Wednesday–Saturdays, 11 a.m. to 4 p.m.
  • National Postal Museum opens Friday, March 11
    Museum hours: Fridays–Tuesdays, 10 a.m. to 5:30 p.m.
  • National Air and Space Museum, National Mall building, opens Friday, March 11–Sunday, March 27
    Museum hours: Thursdays–Sundays, 10 a.m. to 5:30 p.m.

Smithsonian museums and the National Zoo continue to operate with modified schedules. The full schedule of museum days and hours of operation is available at si.edu/visit/hours.
