Hypervelocity star
An arrow points to the second of two newly discovered hypervelocity stars in this photograph from the Sloan Digital Sky Survey. Astronomers estimate this star to be moving at 1.43 million miles per hour, a speed that will eventually carry it far beyond the Milky Way Galaxy. It is currently located about 180,000 light-years from Earth.
