Selected Objects From the Smithsonian Castle Collection

The Castle Collection is comprised of over 3300 pieces of 19th century furniture, lighting fixtures, porcelain, glass, and other decorative arts objects. The purpose of the collection is to furnish the offices, halls, and reception rooms of the Smithsonian’s first building, the Castle, with an appropriate historic ambiance. Although the building and its collection are not on view to the general public, this site is intended to provide access to selected objects of interest.
