Isotope Ratio Mass Spectrometry Facilities

Instrument #1 - GRAVITAS
GRAVITAS
is a Thermo Scientific Delta V Advantage mass spectrometer coupled with
a Costech ECS 4010 elemental analyzer via a Conflo IV gas interface.
Its primary task is to provide high-throughput, coupled measurements of
carbon and nitrogen stable isotope ratios. With GRAVITAS we are also
capable of measuring sulfur stable isotopes from SO2 gas, however, we
only do so on a limited basis.
Instrument #2 - ORACLE
ORACLE
is a Thermo Scientific Delta V Advantage mass specrometer coupled
directly to a Thermo Gasbench II and a Thermo TC/EA via a Conflo IV gas
interface. Its primary task is to provide high-throughput measurements
of hydrogen and oxygen stable isotopes as well as carbon and oxygen
stable isotope from carbonates. ORACLE also has a dual inlet
which is currently set up for high precision stable isotope analysis of
N2, CO2, and H2 gases. The dual inlet is used only for externally
prepared or special need applications.
