Born in Panama, Inez Campbell
began her studies with a Marine Science double major biology
in University of Miami, but then for personal reasons had
to finish Biology in the University of Panama. In 2004-2005
took a Master's in Marine Resource Development and Protection
at Heriot Watt Univeristy in Edinburgh, Scotland. She joined
STRI in 1996-97 as assistant scientific diver, in 1998 she
worked as Scientific Diver Assistant Officer for 18 months
at Naos; and in June 2000 she began working as Site Manager
first at Punta Galeta Marine Lab, and since 2003 at Punta
Culebra Nature Center. In the past four years she has been
actively involved with the Darwin Initiative in Panama working
on environmental issues, being the most important product
of this project the recent designation of a Coastal-Marine
Special Management Zone in Las Perlas Archipelago. Her aim
has always been to study ecology, evolution and behavior of
marine mammals, and she still seeks the opportunity to pursue
this through PhD studies.
