Norbert Wu

Norbert Wu
Photographer and Filmmaker

Norbert Wu is an independent photographer and filmmaker who specializes in marine issues. He was awarded National Science Foundation (NSF) Artists and Writers Grants to document the underwater world of Antarctica in 1997, 1999, and 2000. In 2000, he was awarded the Antarctica Service Medal of the United States of America “for his contributions to exploration and science in the U.S. Antarctic Program.” His work in Antarctica resulted in numerous magazine feature stories (including a feature story in National Geographic Magazine in February 1999); a traveling exhibit; a large- format illustrated book (Under Antarctic Ice, published by the University of California Press); and a children's book (Antarctic Ice, published by Henry Holt); a widely used Field Guide to Antarctic marine life (http://scilib.ucsd.edu/sio/nsf/fguide/); and a high definition television (HDTV) program for Thirteen/WNET New York’s Nature series, which is broadcast on PBS
