Nick Tothill was
born and educated in the United Kingdom. After working in Germany
and Canada, he spent four years at the Smithsonian Astrophysical
Observatory with the AST/RO project, as a postdoctoral fellow,
and then as an astrophysicist. He wintered at the South Pole
in 2004 as AST/RO scientist-in-residence and Station Science
Leader. He is currently a Research Fellow at the University
of Exeter, UK, where he participates in ARENA, a European collaboration
to produce a roadmap for astronomical facilities in Antarctica,
