Douglas Causey

abstract

Douglas Causey is Vice Provost for Research and Graduate Studies, and Professor of Biological Sciences, at the University of Alaska Anchorage. Before coming to UAA, he was Senior Biologist of Harvard’s Museum of Comparative Biology and Fellow of the Kennedy School of Government’s Belfer Institute for Science and International Affairs. From 1996 – 2000, he worked at NSF in the Office of Polar Programs and the Division of Environmental Biology. He is an ecologist and evolutionary biologist by training and has authored over 130 publications on topics as diverse as the natural history of the Arctic, human health and climate change, and Aleutian paleobiology. Dr. Causey’s interdisciplinary research focuses on the human dimensions of environmental health, civil stability, and national security.
