David Kieber is
a Chemistry Professor at the State University of New York, College
of Environmental Science and Forestry. He earned his Ph.D. from
the University of Miami, Rosenstiel School of Marine and Atmospheric
Science in 1988, followed by a postdoctorate position at Woods
Hole Oceanographic Institution. He was given a Young Investigators
Award by the Office of Naval Research in 1991 and a State University
of New York Chancellor’s Award for Excellence in Research
in 2003. Dr. Kieber has conducted research in Antarctica since
the mid 1990s, focusing on the role of sunlight in transformations
of carbon and sulfur in seawater. He has participated in five
oceanographic cruises in the Ross Sea, Weddell-Scotia Seas and
along the Antarctic Peninsula in the Gerlach Straight. He also
conducted research at Palmer Station during the austral spring
1997, and he served on the Palmer Area Users’ Committee
from 1998-2001. |
