Flashpoints and Fault Lines: Museum Curation and Controversy

The Smithsonian is hosting a public forum to discuss the complex roles, responsibilities, and constraints of curating exhibitions in public institutions. This forum will be an opportunity to discuss the work of the Smithsonian and how the institution and others approach sensitive topics, and to provide the public with the opportunity to comment on the recent controversy surrounding the National Portrait Gallery’s Hide/Seek: Difference and Desire in American Portraiture exhibition.

When:  Tuesday, April 26, 2011, 6:00 PM - 9:00 PM, Wednesday, April 27, 2011, 9:30 AM - 3 PM
