Discovery Theater Performance
(for ages 5-10) Celebrate the warmth of holidays of light -- Devali, Sankta Lucia, Chanukah, Kwanzaa, Las Posadas, Christmas, and First Nations tradition of the Winter Solstice -- in this special program with audience interaction for all!

Family Performance Native Holiday Music and Storytelling with Jack Gladstone
Family Program
Folk musician and storyteller Jack Gladstone (Blackfeet from northern Montana) shares his culture through holiday stories and songs, including a special song he wrote for the dedication of the museum's Christmas tree. This year, both the museum's and the U.S. Capitol's Christmas trees are from the Bitterroot National Forest in Montana; the museum's tree is decorated with ornaments made by children in Montana.

Lecture Giuseppe Verdi and His Great Duets
Illustrated Lecture
The Romantic composer Giuseppe Verdi (1813-1901) was one of the most influential composers of Italian opera in the 19th century. This evening, Washington National Opera commentator Saul Lilienstein highlights, using CD and video recordings, the electrifying duets in some of Verdi's masterpieces.
