Lecture Apollo 8: Journey to the Far Side of the Moon
Annual John Glenn Lecture
This year's John Glenn lecture celebrates the 40th anniversary of Apollo 8, the first human mission to travel to the far side of the Moon. Astronauts Frank Borman, Jim Lovell, and Bill Anders spent the Christmas of 1968 in space and captured the world's attention during a Christmas Eve TV broadcast in which they read from the Book of Genesis. They took the iconic photograph of Earth rising over the lunar surface. This evening, all three astronauts discuss their flight and the exciting early days of the space program.
Note: Tickets available beginning September 2; limit 2 per person; visit the Web at www.nasm.si.edu/events/lectures/ticketsform.cfm or call 202-633-2398.
