10:30 AM, Invocations of Ganesha: Rupayan and Kalapriya; Freer steps and plaza (rain location, Sackler pavilion):
Free; first come, first served.

To inaugurate each day's activities, Rajasthani dancers from the Kalapriya dance company of Chicago join musicians from the Rupayan ensemble of Jodhpur to invoke Ganesha, the diety who removes obstacles to all endeavors.

1 PM, Music from Rajasthan: Rupayan in Concert; Meyer Auditorium:
Free tickets (up to 4 per person) can be reserved in advance through Ticketmaster at www.ticketmaster.com or by calling 202-397-7328 or 800-551-7328 beginning at 10 AM two Mondays before the event. Experience the songs and rhythms of Rajasthan with Rupayan, an 8-member ensemble direct from Jodhpur. Members of this ensemble of vocalists, folk fiddle (sarangi), double-flute, and percussion trace their lineages to the professional Langa and Manganiyar castes of Muslim musicians who served the Hindu Rajput courts for centuries.

1 and 3 PM, Storytelling; Sackler, Sublevel 1:
Free; first come, first served.

Who were the guests at Shiva's wedding? What tricks did Krishna play on the village girls? Listen to storyteller Sushmita Mazumdar (writer, graphic designer, book artist, and founder of Handmade Storybooks) tells popular tales of Hindu deities and their exploits.

1-4 PM, ImaginAsia; Sackler's ImaginAsia classroom, Sublevel 2:
