Performance Family SAAM I Am: O'Keeffe and Adams
Family Day
Celebrate the fall season by exploring the beauty of nature with Georgia O'Keeffe and Ansel Adams. Follow storyteller Judith Gravitz as she leads a journey through forests and mountains, learn from artist Lauren Miko how to capture nature on paper with a printmaking activity, and pick up a Polaroid camera and go on a photo safari through the landscape of the Kogod Courtyard (on-site sign-up required), all while listening to the nature inspired tunes of Eric Maring.

In this family workshop with teaching artist Karen O. Brown, children of all ages will find a way to use color and shape as expressive media for a love of ocean. Traditional techniques like paper folding and collage meet recycled materials and watercolors for budding artists and craftspeople who meld messages from The Sant Ocean Hall with their own creative efforts. Don't miss the opportunity to create your very own Ocean Hall souvenir!

Fall Lecture Series
(ages 10 and above) Dr. David Smith discusses the Chesapeake Bay's "dead zone," which stretches for hundreds of square miles. This area of the bay does not have enough oxygen to support a healthy ecosystem and has a devastating impact on the creatures living in the Bay and its tributaries.
