Special Tour Performance The Magic Mountain: Taiwanese Puppet Theater
Performance, with preconcert tour
Master Taiwanese puppeteer Liao Wen-ho and his Glove Puppet Theater perform original scenes from the classic Journey to the West, in which a Buddhist monk and his retinue of animal friends cross the mysterious mountains of western China, where they encounter giants, demons, monsters, and a village celebration.

Special Sale Lecture Film Yojimbo
Tatsuya Nakadai: Icon of Japanese Cinema Series
(1961, 110 min., bandw, Japanese with English subtitles, directed by Akira Kurosawa) Nakadai stars as a pistol-waving killer opposite Toshiro Mifune's scheming yojimbo (bodyguard) in this Kurosawa classic. To introduce and discuss the film are actor Tatsuya Nakadai and author Teruyo Nogami, two icons of Japanese cinema, with Japanese film specialist Michael Jeck hosting the program. Following the screening, Nogami, who was a script supervisor for Kurosawa, signs copies of her book Waiting on the Weather: Making Movies with Akira Kurosawa.
