Dianne Dale, whose family extends four generations in Anacostia, discusses the history of the Hillsdale section of the community. Hillsdale, sometimes referred to as Barry Farms, began as an African American community in 1867 and has offered a variety of schools, churches, civic organizations, and businesses for a growing population.
