the Last Ice Age: Illustrated Lecture
How far back in time can the earliest seafaring in the Mediterranean be traced? During the last three years, Albert Ammerman (professor of humanities, Colgate University) has conducted archaeological surveys and excavations at three coastal sites on Cyprus (Aspros, Alimman, and Nissi Beach), leading to his theory that voyaging foragers were making seasonal trips to the island some 12,000 years ago. In this illustrated presentation, Ammerman discusses his findings and unearthed artifacts, including many small chipped stone tools.
