Research at the Smithsonian Marine Station at Fort Pierce (SMSFP) focuses on marine biodiversity and ecosystems of Florida. Situated in a biogeographical transition zone between tropical and temperate waters on the southern portion of the Indian River Lagoon, SMSFP provides access to a diverse variety of habitats, including the Florida Keys.
