Using the LogoMerchandise Packaging |
Generally, all Smithsonian shops should use the same merchandise packaging regardless of location. This will ensure both visual consistency and cost effectiveness. If necessary, a shop may use its own Museum or Organization Lock-up. The packaging has been designed to be simple and visually strong. It utilizes the word "Smithsonian" and the Very Large Format Sunburst, as this version is the clearest and most graphic. On all bags, the Lock-up should be in Smithsonian blue and yellow, with black type on white as shown. The sides of the shopping bag are blue with white lettering for the listing of shops.
The boxes, which are foil blocked, can be in gold, silver or a blue that matches Smithsonian blue as closely as possible. Generally, black should be avoided as it looks too somber. The boxes should be covered with flat white coated paper. Surface texture or embossing, for example "linen" or "satin" finish, are not recommended. The heavy outline version of the Sunburst may be substituted for the version of the Sunburst shown here.
If required, wrapping paper may be in the decorative format, with the Smithsonian endorsement at the edge of the paper, as shown below. This layout is for this item only and may not be used elsewhere.
