Mitsitam Café
Mitsitam, means, “let's eat” in the Native language of the Delaware and Piscataway peoples. Your group will enjoy indigenous cuisine of the Americas and explore the history of Native foods at this award-winning café. Each food station depicts the ways of life of a particular region in regards to ingredients, cooking techniques and flavors resulting in traditional as well as contemporary dishes. The Mitsitam Café features native foods found throughout 5 regions of the Western Hemisphere, including the Northern Woodlands, South America, Northwest Coast, Meso America, and the Great Plains.

Dining Dollars Food Vouchers
Available in denominations of $10, $12, $15 or $20, Dining Dollars are good for face value and can be used towards the purchase of any food item and include a complimentary soft drink.
No change given. If value is exceeded, patron agrees to pay difference, including tax.

Kids Meal Vouchers (Bulk) $7 each
Discounted meal options are available for kids ages 12 and under.
Choose from the following options:

Option 1:  One Hard or Soft Taco and 1 side item
Option 2:  Cheese Fry Bread and 1 side item

All options served with whole fruit, 20 oz. fountain beverage.

Adult Meal Vouchers (Bulk) $20 each
Choose from the following options:

Option 1:  Cedar Planked Salmon
Option 2:  Vegetarian Entreé
Option 3:  Maple Brined Turkey

All options served with choice of side item, 20 oz. fountain beverage.

For Dining Dollars, Kids Meal and Adult Meal Vouchers, the following restrictions apply:
Discount available for advanced sales only, not valid for same day purchases. Minimum order of 10, no complimentary vouchers issued. No reserved seating. Vouchers expire 9/26/15. 2015 vouchers can be exchanged for 2016 vouchers. To qualify for exchange, Smithsonian Group Sales & Reservations office must receive unused vouchers no later than 9/24/15.

Wine and Cheese Happy Hour $19 per person
Take a break from 3-4 p.m. to enjoy an afternoon wine and cheese happy hour at the Smithsonian.

Savor a selection of artisan and local hand-crafted cheeses while you sip premium American wines including Chardonnay, Pinot Nior and Cabernet Sauvignon. Served with membrillo, dried fruits and rustic breads. Sparkling and still water also available.

Also available at the National Museum of Natural History, National Museum of American History, Smithsonian American Art Museum and National Portrait Gallery.

  • Wine and Cheese Happy Hour and Chef's Tasting Menus must be booked at least 72 hours in advance and have a minimum of 40 guests. No complimentary ticket.

    Food-Allergic Individuals: Be aware that we handle and prepare egg, milk, wheat, shellfish, fish, soy, peanut, and tree nut products, and other potential allergens in the food production areas of our facility. Please direct questions to the restaurant manager.
