Note: This exhibition was part of the "Portrait of a Nation" tour, designed by the museum to bring artworks from the collection to the public during the building's renovation (closed January 9, 2000-July 1, 2006). This wide-ranging survey featured 75 of the most important American women of the 20th century, as seen by many of the finest photographers of our time.
