From the 8,000 photographs submitted to Smithsonian magazine's 4th Annual Photo Contest, the judges selected 50 finalists. Of these, 27 are on view, including the grand prize winner and the winners in the following 5 categories: The Natural World, Travel, People, Americana, and Altered Images (photographs that have been manipulated).  Images were submitted from the United States and 85 other countries around the world.
