The Life of a Japanese Painting

Location: Galleries 5, 6, 6A, 7 and West Corridor

This exhibition demonstrates different approaches to conserving and remounting Japanese paintings and explains the characteristics of Japanese painting formats and mounting styles. Several paintings in this exhibition were conserved in Japan under a 5-year program. The program is made possible by the Japanese government and private organizations in Japan.
