Museum: Freer Gallery of Art
Location: Gallery 19
On view are three examples of one of the most important musical instruments in Chinese culture, the qin (or zither): one is from the original bequest of Charles Lang Freer and the other two are new acquisitions. These instruments represent the classical form of the qin as it evolved from the ancient prototype on display in the related Sackler exhibition Music in the Age of Confucius.
Pronunciation key: qin = chin
