Location: George Gustav Heye Center, Alexander Hamilton U.S. Custom House
The exhibit features 56 watercolor paintings -- some never before on public display -- by Seth Eastman, one of the leading pictorial historians of Native Americans in the 19th century. As an Army officer, he was assigned to frontier duty at Fort Snelling. The works are considered to be some of the most important visual records of everyday Dakota life in Minnesota during the mid-19th century.
