34 paintings, created in northern India between the 17th and 19th centuries, highlight the role of the "sakhi" as confidante and messenger in Rajput love paintings. Many of the illustrations are from the lyric poem Love Song of the Dark Lord by the 12th-century poet Jayadeva.
