Museum: Sackler Gallery
Location: Vever Galleries
On view are approximately 20 photographs, sketchbooks, watercolors, scale drawings, and paper casts or "squeezes" of inscriptions. All were recorded by Ernst E. Herzfeld (1879-1948) and the team of architects who together excavated Persepolis, one of the ancient capital cities of the Achaemenid Persian Empire (ca. 550-330 B.C.), between 1923-1935.
