Museum: American Indian Museum Heye Center
Location: George Gustav Heye Center, Alexander Hamilton U.S. Custom House
Over 50 works from Canada's renowned Native artist Norval Morrisseau (Anishnaabe) are on view in this retrospective, including both early works painted on unusual surfaces to the artist's later vibrant, large-scale canvases. The exhibition chronicles the artist's search for a style of art that would integrate his understanding of ancient spirituality within a contemporary art form.
