Museum: Freer Gallery of Art
Location: Gallery 3
Some 25 objects from the Freer's ceramics collection examine the enduring appeal in Japan of Punch'ong ware--Korean ceramics introduced in the 16th century. Focusing on Japanese ceramics from the Momoyama (1568-1615) and Edo (1615-1868) periods that feature several Korean techniques of applying slip to dark-bodied wares, the exhibition also includes several Korean prototypes from the Yi dynasty (1392-1910).
