Contemporary photographer Hiroshi Sugimoto explores connections between past and present modes of seeing by juxtaposing his photographs with approximately 60 ancient and medieval Japanese artworks -- such as ritual burial figures, bronze reliquaries, wood pagodas, and Noh masks -- from his collection.
Note: The Hirshhorn Museum also has an exhibition on Hiroshi Sugimoto currently on view through May 14, 2006.
