To complement the opening of the National Museum of the American Indian, this exhibition celebrates the indigenous peoples of Hawai'i. Historic objects such as wooden bowls, feathered capes, and bark cloth, displayed in exhibition wall cases, provide insight into traditional Hawaiian culture. The centerpiece of the exhibition is the oldest surviving Hawaiian outrigger canoe, given to the Smithsonian by Queen Kapi`olani in 1887.
